Aim:-

To detect the presence of Phenolic group in the given organic compound.

Apparatus:-

Test tube, test tube stand, test tube holder, burner, beaker, litmus paper, match box, watch glass etc.

Detection of Phenolic Group

Litmus Test:

­Add 1 drop of given organic compound on blue litmus paper.

Blue litmus change into red by Both A & B.

Ferric Chloride Test:

To aqua solution of compound –s 1 ml of neutral feeric chloride solution added.

 

Violet colour was appear.

 

 

 

 

 

3.

Bromine water test:

To aqua solution of the given organic compound Bromine water was added.

White ppt was formed

 

 

 

 

 





Conclusion:-

On the basics of above test we conclude that compound contains Phenolic group.
